My company have decided to send me on a training course and I am really excited about it. They have decided that it is about time we updated and got some takeoff software and I will be sent on the course to learn all about it. I will then be responsible for training all of the members of my team on how to use the estimating software. I think that this will be really good fun, but I will have to be careful that I work hard on the course so that I remember everything and understand it all because I will need to be teaching it to others. I think that I may be the only team leader going on the course as well, so I may be having to teach the other leaders as well as my own team which will be a bit more, scary! I have decided that I need to be really well prepared before the course starts and I am working on an evaluation copy of the software to try out a few things and get familiar at least with some of the basic functions like a simple square feet estimate. It is hard to do it on my own but I hope that if I at least know a few basic things then I will be able to pick it up quicker when I do the course.
